@yshem said in Allow ALL Websites Unless its not good:
How can I get NetFree to do this?
You can't. You'll need to use a different filter. Netfree is and will always be a whitelist based filter.

@aronu The screenshot is of VS Code?
In general, the wiki has solutions for many popular programs
@mz-w yup, that's me
Unfortunately, auto-checking of extensions is only impemented for Chrome extensions - not Firefox. To download a Firefox extension it has to be explicitly whitelisted by sending a request to Netfree.
@mz-w Did you check a traffic recording to see if Netfree are blocking the download?
@byk
Hi (welcome to the forums ),
I answered on the Hebrew forum, (the English forum has very little traffic nowadays).
To paraphrase from my answer there:
@zipcode said in What is the difference between NetFree and Rimon?:
If I'm getting significant delays, can Netfree be turned off so I can continue working?
No!!!
I have no problem with filtering, but who owns the keys?
Does a user need to petition a va'ad for reshut to put the filter on hold?
There is absolutely no such thing as disabling the filter.
How do we uninstall if it's too difficult based on our needs?
There is no installation, and hence no uninstallation. It is a ISP side filter. Change your ISP and you are not filtered anymore.
Wikipedia and other Torah sites
Mostly shouldn't be an issue.
My wife wants to be able to watch recorded shiurim given by women. Can the filter be configured to allow sites deemed essential by the user?
As a matter of policy, only content that is acceptable for everyone (i.e. men & women) is open. Also there is no option to allow content that doesn't pass the baseline policies.
My wife has a presence on LinkedIn and she gets new clients in that venue. Is LinkedIn available?
No (I am not sure why but it Netfree considers linkedin a social networking site)
@zipcode I can't speak for Rimon.
As far as Netfree goes:
Netfree is whitelist based.
I'm a webmaster for several websites and I need to be able to access/administer them through the browser and through ftp.
Shouldn't be a problem but requires a request to whitelist them if they have not yet been whitelisted.
I'm a graphic artist and at times I'll need access to stock photo websites. The problem in this case is these websites seem to randomly toss in unexpected photos that I deem not-tznius.
At times I will need to search through many screens of photos to find the best image.
As far as kashrus is concerned Netfree is absolutely without doubt the best, each image passes a human inspection. Only images with no women are allowed through.
On the practicality side of things: Be prepared to sacrifice for the sake of kashrus...
The fact that ALL images must undergo human inspection means it takes time for images to come through. (Any previously checked image will not undergo another check so on very popular sites most images will be available immmediately.)
Any images containing women are blocked even if you might deem them ok.
I need access to Gmail, Wix, Google fonts, and a few other sites to download shiurim.
Should all be ok. (As long as the shiurim follow the mainstream charedi outlook).
How is Rimon filtering different for this use case?
Reportedly they cannot filter images very well. Some sites will have even kosher images blocked and other sites will have even unkosher pictures available.
Reportedly the customer service is far less good.
Obviously you can't expect a totally unbiased opinion in the Netfree forum...
A huge difference is that Rimon is a business venture targeting mainly the dati croud whereas Netfree is a charedi non profit venture.
@pdavidow indeed. This is a bug...
@cmark said in Ability to edit Support Request once sent:
Whats wrong with a reply writing correction?
Not a good user experience.
@pdavidow closed requests don't show up in the list but can still be accessed by their original URL. The original URL can be found in the email notifications for that support request.
BTW, there is no need to close requests. They may be left open indefinitely.
@pdavidow it already exists.
Click on the little + symbol next to the subject line of the request
Note: These instructions will only work to install free apps, unfortunately, installing payed apps requires using the App Store which cannot work under Netfree (Due to Apple's certificate pinning policy). In addition, Apple Silicon (M1) based Macs can also install iOS apps using the described method but it may require requesting from Netfree to whitelist that particular app’s download. A support request with an attached traffic recording should resolve that.
mas
by opening a terminal (e.g. Terminal.app, the macOS inbuilt terminal app) and typing the following command: brew install mas
(followed by enter). After some textual output, the mas
command will be installed on your system.mas purchase appid
where in place of the word “appid” you type the actual app id. E.g. in the case of the above mentioned Moovit app the command will be: mas purchase 498477945
.Error: Download failed: The server gave an error during download: 418 Client Error.
it indicated that the download has not yet been whitelisted by Netfree and it will require a support request with an attached traffic recording to resolve the issue.@pdavidow At times they will open a site just for one customer on a case by case basis. Be in touch with the support. Explain why Discord is so important for you.
@pdavidow Generally this notice means that Netfree are aware that some parts of the site are inappropriate whereas other parts are fine. They don't currently have a solution to automatically seperate the wheat from the chaff but they are not opposed to such a solution in principle. In most cases it does not reflect an active effort to find solutions.
@shloimy95 Anyone can edit it, that's the point of the wiki...
Make an account and go ahead
@pdavidow On plain Windows (i.e. not WSL) Wifree cannot be easily circumvented.
@shloimy95 In Israel most users are connected to Netfree directly via their ISP hence they don't have your issue.
By the way if I could use VPN credentials in a router what prevents a user from connecting hundreds or thousands of devices through such a method and completely overwhelming Netfree's servers?
Nothing really. If it becomes a problem I am sure the offender can be traced down and have his accocunt blocked.
@shloimy95 Maybe this project will help:
https://github.com/sakai135/wsl-vpnkit
@shloimy95 I get your situation.
As far as WSL2 goes, I don't have experience but it seems that it should work, judging by multiple Github issues complaining that it doesn't work... maybe MS will fix it one day...
